Past Events
Their Spring 2012 meeting was held on May 12, 201, 9-11 AM at the Trinity United Methodist Church. The theme of the meeting was Recording Memories for Children with a book display by Trinity United Methodist.
The Spring 2011 meeting was held, April 16, at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs. Author Joyce Villeneuve spoke about her book Courage to Forgive. A special business meeting was held and a book display by the First Presbyterian Church.
The Spring 2010 meeting was held, April 10, 2010, at the Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 N. Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs. Brazilian born, raised in Canada, and now residing in Colorado, Don Pape is a happily married husband, father of three sons and lover of books. He is the publisher of the trade book group of David C. Cook, a 132 year old curriculum and publishing house originally based in Chicago, IL. Don has had an active career in publishing starting out as a salesperson for Provident Bookstores, picker and packer of shipments for InterVarsity Press, church librarian in Cambridge, Ontario, sales director for Random House, publishing director for Harold Shaw Books and literary agent for Alive Communications. In his spare time he loves to hike with his wife of 26 years, Ruth Pape, or listen to smooth jazz, swim, or read – always reading.
He talked about the Church Library – the one opportunity to provide resources for spiritual transformation and faith growth. Discuss=the variety of products to find in the library – fiction, non-fiction, children’s, DVDs, music. And the importance of valuing the volunteer and the parishioners alike – know your customer.
Our spring meeting was held May 30, 2009, at the Central United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs. Gwen Henderson was the speaker and time was spent learning to mend and repair library materials.
Our Fall 2008 meeting was held October 4th at the Salem Evangelical Church Lutheran Church. Our topic was:
How We Do Things In Our
Library: a group discussion on how individual churches manage their library and
solve common and uncommon problems. There will be special emphasis on library automation and software.
Our Spring 2008 meeting was held April 12th, at the Holy Family Catholic Church. Author Bambi Venetucci was our special speaker and will discuss her life and book. The Holy Family Catholic Church will also have a book display.
The Fall 2007 meeting of the Pikes Peak Area Chapter was held in September, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs. Our theme was "Resources of Sacred Art and Architecture" with Kathryn Christnacht as our special speaker. There was also a book display.
