The Fall 2008 meeting of the Lake Superior Chapter held at First Covenant Church in Duluth included a silent auction and guest speaker, Shirley Wuchter.  Shirley shared her story of how through grief she came to be on a special path to publishing. Shirley’s husband, Michael  Wuchter, served as pastor at First Lutheran Church in Duluth and died suddenly while they were on a mission trip in Namibia .  During her process of grieving, she was drawn to Michael’s writings.  Over the course of several years, with support of friends and family, Shirley has chosen wonderfully insightful sermons by Michael and compiled them in the seasonal book volumes described below.  All of these timeless sermons written by Michael Wuchter are truly worthy additions for your church library shelves.  These volumes would also make for a spiritually engaging seasonal book group study.

Uplifting Christ Through Autumn -Sermons for the Fall Season expresses Christian faith, hope and love relevant for anytime of the year.  Included in this volume are messages for important church occasions, including World Communion Day, Stewardship Sunday, Homecoming/Fall Festival, Reformation Sunday, All Saints Day and Thanksgiving.    82p. CSS 2006, 978-0-7880-24108, $9.95

Shining Through the Darkness -Sermons for the Winter Season offers 12 messages of “waiting” and “traveling on a journey,” especially appropriate for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany seasons.    84p, CSS 2007, 978-0-7880-2482-5, $9.95

Growing in Christ -Sermons for the Spring Season includes themes of rebirth and renewal as the earth shakes off its wintry slumber.  This volume takes the reader into Lent and Easter with the offer of renewal and awakening. 98p, CSS 2008, 978-0-7880-2523-5, $9.95

Walking With Christ -Sermons for the Summer Season (available 2009) reflects on one man’s journey of faith and encourages us to embark on our own.  Michael D. Wuchter illustrates how we can draw closer to the heart of God in simple things like gardening, cleaning out a wallet, camping or going to an amusement park. 118p, CSS 2009, 978-0-7880-2603-8, $12.95

If your local church library or book group would like to invite Shirley to share her journey and the volumes she has compiled, you may contact her directly at swuchter@juno.com.
